Sprint determines your tax rate according to your billing address.
I’ve recently changed my billing address from San Jose, CA —–> to Pittsburg, CA and I was surprised how much less tax I have to pay in Pittsburg, CA compared to San Jose, CA.
I did a bit more research and found this article on Forbes.com, on how to duck your cell phone tax: http://www.forbes.com/2005/06/06/cz_…cellphone.html. However, the article only go into cellular tax rate between states. Your city or county taxes rate are much higher than your state tax. In additional to 911 tax in most cities, they even tax your total phone bill(gross sale).
I have paperless billing, so for the last few months I have tried to exprienment with different billing addresses like I would change my billing address to a hotel in Reno, Nevada (supposely to be the lowest state tax in the nation) to another address in West Virginia. I was suprise that my parent address in Pittsburg, CA has the lowest tax. Again note, I have paperless e-bill, so I dont get a thing from Sprint other than some promo stuff and whenever i resign my contract, Sprint would send me a letter of confirmation, which has my name, and no other informations, i remember.
I changed my billing address online by logging into my sprint.com
